Our neck of the woods.

On Sunday we stayed around our neck of the woods, a day to relax and let Lowell rest up from his travel.  We went to church in the morning and then came home to a Sunday roast (which mom had so graciously started before church).  With our tummys full we resisted the desire for a nap and drove a few miles to the estate house that used to own all the property in our area, Mapledurham House.  It is a lovely estate house, the family still lives there and it is open on the weekends to visitors.  I can’t imagine the capital needed to keep one of these grand old houses from crumbling.  The house also has a very interesting old mill, the last working mill on the Thames.  They sell their flour so next time I need some I will go buy it there.

After Mapledurham we took the fam down to our new house on the river and showed them around a bit.

The next morning everyone but Steve would leave for a 5 day tour of England.
